The Hunter is an unmanned aerial vehicle used by the U.S. Army to gather intelligence and target enemy forces. The combat-proven drone is in service since 1995. Its first operational deployment took place in Republic of Macedonia. Over four thousand hours of flight were flown by Hunter over its seven-month operational time span. After its significant operational success, the Hunter was able to resume production. It was also deployed into Iraq where it was used to fight ISIS with Viper Strike munitions.

MQ-5B Hunter

The MQ-5B Hunter (or MQ-5B) is an advanced version. The aircraft features a twin tailboom design, heavy fuel engines, and weapons-capable high points. The MQ-5B Hunter is a light aircraft with a weight of 1800 pounds. It can fly up to 22,000 feet at altitude. It is capable to carry out missions that last up 15 hours. This aircraft has a relay mode for controlling other Hunter aircraft, and can carry two Viper Strike guided bombs. This aircraft can also travel up to 80 miles making it ideal for scouting missions.

The MQ-5B Hunter’s avionics is among the most modern DoD UAVs. It includes a PC based mission computer, an APU (auxiliary power distribution unit), GPS units and a Litton RN-251 inertial navigator system. The aircraft's advanced electronic avionics system allows it to reduce its weight and size as well as power consumption. It can execute multiple missions simultaneously.

Endurance Hunter (E-Hunter) RQ-5A

The Endurance Hunter (E-Hunter) is a tactical unmanned aerial vehicle. The aircraft's first flight was on March 17, 2005. This aircraft is a collaboration between Northrop Grumman & the US Army. Its mission is extend the endurance, payload capability and range of Hunter UAVs. It will be available as a kit that can be installed in the field. Currently, there are about 50 Endurance Hunter RQ-5As in service.

The Hunter is capable carrying Northrop Grumman’s BAT-submunition. This weapon has decimated an MBT Combat Vehicle and incapacitated the moving T72 tank. The Hunter also successfully carried the Viper Strike precision munition, which has a 1.8kg (4 lb) warhead and a semi-active laser seeker. It is a fixed-wing and dual-rudder aircraft that has a six hour endurance rating and can fly for over 100 hours. The RQ-5A is propelled by two Passaggio-Guzzi petrol engines that develop 60hp each.

Army One System Ground Control Station

The Army is moving towards a universal ground control system that can be used to manage unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It is becoming easier to find hundreds of affordable, high-performance UAVs that can cover the entire battlefield. Each UAV is different, as each one has a unique controller and vehicle. Army has created a new program called One System. The concept of One System ground control is a step in that direction. This Spotlight article will examine the concept of One System and its current reach as well as future technology initiatives.

One System was initially developed for Textron's RQ-7 Shadow TUAS. It can now support multiple UAVs, including Northrop Grumman RQ-5 Hunter. It supports the RQ-2 Pioneer, AAI's Aerosonde and the RQ-8 Fire Scout UAV helicopter. Both the One System ground station and ground control stations run on Windows or Sun Solaris systems. They communicate using an analog datalink, directional antenna and an analog datalink.

Viper Strike anti -armor munitions integration

Northrop Grumman has awarded a contract to purchase multiple GBU44/E Viper Strike antiarmor armed unmanned aircraft vehicles. These munitions are to be integrated onto KC-130J Harvest Hawks. The latest software load will increase the weapon's effectiveness against time-sensitive target. Viper Strike a GPS guided laser-guided variant for the BAT weapon.

The Viper Strike anti–armor armament, a gliding munition that can be used for precision stand-off attack, is the Viper Strike. It uses a GPS-aided GPS navigation system and semiactive laser seeker for precise strikes and low collateral damage. It is an effective option for a Hunter UAV and can be used against a variety targets.

FAQ

What are the rules of operation for drones?

The FAA will require you to register your drone. You will need to submit information about your drone including its weight and size as well as operating frequency. You will also need to get an FAA identification number.

Where can I find a drone for sale?

You can buy many types of drones online. Some people prefer buying their drones through Amazon, eBay, or Walmart. Others choose to purchase their drones directly from manufacturers.

What is the difference in a quadcopter from a hexacopter.

A quadcopter can be described as a quadrotor helicopter with four rotors. It flies the same way as a traditional helicopter. It is equipped with four rotors, each of which can rotate independently. A hexacopter is similar to a quadcopter except that it has six rotors instead of four. Hexacopters are more stable and maneuverable than quadcopters.

Is it possible to fly a drone at high altitudes without a license?

The FAA has no limits on the maximum height a drone can fly. However, they do require you to register your unmanned aircraft system (UAS), which includes the registration number, model name, weight, size, serial number, manufacturer's name, date manufactured, and other information.

How To

Repairing a damaged motor on a drone

It is important to first identify which motor part is damaged before you can repair it. It is easy to do this by removing the propeller shaft from the motor shaft. You should then remove the wires that are attached to the motor, and examine the inner workings. If there is something wrong with the motor, you will know which part you need to repair.

If there are no damages to the motor you don't have too much to worry about. However, if your motor looks anything like these images, then you will need some parts replaced before you can fly.

Consider a motor that has become bent and won't turn. To get the motor to turn again, you'll need to bend it. To hold the motor in place, you can use a pair or vice grips. After you're done, check your motor for signs of wear.

Once you're satisfied that everything's ok, put the propeller back onto the motor shaft and reattach the wires. Now your drone is ready to fly!
